Special Collections: The bishops of the United States have created the national collection to support the Church’s works of social justice, evangelization and education, both domestically and around the globe. The national collections are a way our local community can send a powerful expression of our support to others here at home and in the world.
Some of the National Collection money is used to benefit people in the Diocese of Victoria:
The Catholic Campaign for Human Development (CCHD): The collection for the Catholic Campaign for Human Development (CCHD) provides funding for groups that make lasting change and uplift the poor in the United States. CCHD’s grants improve education, support economic development, and create affordable housing in low-income neighborhoods. Help us continue to defend human dignity and build communities of solidarity. Twenty-five percent of the CCHD collection stays in the diocese to fund local anti-poverty projects; seventy-five percent supports national grant and education programs. CCHD helps break the cycle of poverty not just for one day but for a lifetime.The Catholic Communication Campaign (CCC):This collection communicates the Gospel through Catholic social media activities and enriches our faith through television, radio, social media, podcasts, and print media. Fifty percent of the collection supports local communication efforts such as televised Masses and diocesan newspapers. The other fifty percent supports the production of national media programming that offers a slice of Catholic life in the United States.
The Catholic Relief Services Collection (CRS): “Amen, I say to you, whatever you did for one of these least brothers of mine, you did for me” (Mt 25:40). We are reminded that Jesus identified himself with our poorest brothers and sisters. The Catholic Relief Services Collection serves Jesus in the victims of human trafficking, those who suffer from unjust laws, and those who need pastoral care and humanitarian assistance across the globe. Through supporting this collection, you help Jesus in disguise. Seventy-five percent of the funds are remitted to CRS for overseas projects and twenty-five percent may be retained in the diocese for local anti-poverty programs.
