Presidio La Bahia

"Where Texas History Comes Alive."

Official Site for Presidio La Bahia

A National Historic Landmark, Presidio La Bahia is the only Spanish fort remaining in the possession of the Catholic Church in North America. The presidio was restored in the 1960's through the dedicated generosity of Mrs. Kathryn O'Connor to stand as a lasting memorial alongside its sister shrines the Alamo and San Jacinto. It houses a museum and a visitor center along with a tour program available to groups.
The presidio is open daily from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and is closed on major holidays. Admission is $3 for adults and $1 for children under 12. The fort is handicapped accessible. The presidio compound is a self-sustaining private institution operated under the administration of the Diocese of Victoria in Texas. Tax deductible contributions are accepted and can be given through the fund-raising campaign, "Friends of the Fort."
