The Wash for Life was started in 2006 by a group of six students and recent graduates from Thomas Aquinas College in Southern California. Director Jonathan Tonkowich came up with the idea while sitting in math class, thinking about ways to get young people involved in the pro-life movement. From there the Holy Spirit turned the project into an annual event that has had thousands of young people participate all around the country, and has raised over $146,000 for Pregnancy Care Centers in the communities where the car washes take place. See You at the Pole™ is a
student-initiated, student organized, and student-led event. That means this
is all about students meeting at their school flagpole to pray—for their
school, friends teachers, government, and their nation. See You at the Pole™
is not a demonstration, political rally, nor a stand for or against
anything.
See You at the Pole™ is scheduled annually on the
fourth Wednesday in
September, which is
September 23 in 2009. The suggested
starting time is 7 a.m. If that doesn't work for your school, choose a time
that will work for your school, but let everyone at your school know!
The
United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) invites schools and
parishes to participate in the 2009-2010 Multi-Media Youth Arts Contest,
sponsored by the Catholic Campaign for Human Development (CCHD). To learn
