Catholic Speakers Online
How can we reach the young people who rely more and more on social
media (digital natives) in a way that will appeal to them? The next session
in the Paulist National Catholic Evangelization Association's Catholic
Speakers Online (CSO) series will provide some answers to that question. Dr.
Tom Curran, Director of MyCatholicFaith.org, will speak on Go and Make
Disciples... On the Internet! Evangelizing Digital Natives and Forming
Catholics on the Internet on Thursday, October 8, 2009, at 3:00 pm EDT. Tom
will share principles and practices for effectively utilizing the internet
as a means of forming Catholics in the faith and also to reach out to
"digital natives" – the younger generation who spend increasing amounts of
time getting information and interacting on the internet.
All you need to participate is a connection to the internet for
viewing the slides and either computer headset/speakers or a telephone
connection (toll-free) for the audio. The entire event is free, but
registration is required.

Create Your Own
Lesson on Canonization
The canonization of five new saints by Pope Benedict XVI on Oct. 11 provides
a special opportunity to create a lesson on how the Church recognizes and
proclaims saints. You'll find the information you need in the fall 2009
edition of Family Pages, an online service of Pflaum Gospel Weeklies.

Catholic Culture
includes a two-page feature, "Canonization – Recognizing and Proclaiming a
Saint," which outlines the process.

Saints of the Season
includes biographical information on two of the new saints – Jeanne
Jugan and Father Damien of Molokai.
The Family Pages also offer seasonal reproducible activities for preschool
through eighth grade.

free!
